Updates and a Discussion

Uncategorized | Posted by admin February 23rd, 2010

So this will probably be my first and last time asking this, but for this post I am looking for some comments. If you follow me on facebook, twitter or even myspace, I would like to at least see some type of feedback. I am not asking cus I need to feel important or anything, it is mostly that this post will have some questions and I rather have them answered then just left blank.

So the first part of this post is about the updates on my sidebar. The first is the “Posters” widget. This will be just of the shows that I did end up going to, but you are free to explore the poster folder for other posters. The second update is my last.fm feed. Pretty simple which is what I like. The same can be said for my late update, my Twitter feed. I have also been thinking about adding a Calendar Event widget, but I can’t seem to find one that works for me.

Another big update is the addition of a mp3 player (located below). I have thought about adding this for most of my recordings that have mp3s. I may also add a widget at some point that would have random “singles” for each show.

Now for the discussion part. This is mostly about quality of my recordings. For the last several years I have recorded at 24 bit with either 96 or 48khz. Usually I would release both the 16 and 24 bit recordings on the live music archive, but lately I have been releasing just the 16 bit versions. Should I continue to just release the 16 bit or should I upload the 24 bit flacs too? The other part of the quality is my youtube videos. I started uploading videos to youtube when the video restraints on uploading were so different then what they are now. Most of my old videos can look so much better and even the ones I have released in the last year could be better if I were to reupload them now. The only issue is that I would have to delete all the videos and the comments. If I do end up doing this, it would probably be in a month or two when I get my new computer.

Anyways that is it for now. If you have any other things you think I need to add go ahead and let me know. I look forward to the feedback.

The Future of This Blog

Uncategorized | Posted by admin February 1st, 2009

Hey everyone. It has been over a year since I have posted a blog on this site. There are various reasons as to why I haven’t felt to blog. The main reason I didn’t get into bloging is mostly cus I have never really been into writing period. I hated English class in High School (I was more into math). Granted I did enjoy writing from time to time, I just never got into it. I also got involved into a mmorpg called Maplestory (say what you want, I don’t care). Plus last year was one of my least productive years for audio and video taping. Lately though I have been up and down with what I want to actually do with this site.

I know that I want to keep this site going, but it needs a major facelift. I do have a lot of shows out there that haven’t been posted here yet. I also seem to have issues lately of being able to post shows on this site so I either need to figure that out, whether I use another method of posting for bands that are not approved on the Live Music Archive or moving to another server. If I move to another server, I will wait until June to do so since that is when my subscription will end. The design of this blog/website also needs a new look. I have never been a great designer so if you or anyone you know can help me with WordPress designing or another blog program like blogger or anything else that would be awesome.

I also am going to try to upload at least one show per Monday or Tuesday depending on what I can get done and if I am truly in the mood or not. I have had a lot of requests from different bands for what they want me to release so I need to work on those asap. I will try to start my first one tomorrow.  If you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to email me or contact me on my myspace. Thanks.

Piebald, MC Chris, Street to Nowhere – 2007-03-30

Concert Reviews, Downloads, Indie Rock, Nerdcore, Uncategorized | Posted by admin April 29th, 2007

I want to start this review by saying that this was an interesting combination of artists. Piebald and Street to Nowhere both have that “indie” rock sound, while MC Chris is nerdcore. Plus, judging by most of the fans that were there, MC Chris should of headlined, but this tour seemed to be a practice for his new sound (a few of the songs have changed), so I guess it makes sense.

Street to Nowhere put on a good show. It took a while for me to get into there music, but I was tapping my feet about 4 songs in. They only played for about 30 minutes. Before MC Chris’ set, he threw a bunch of Magic cards and Dungeons and Dragons merchandise to the crowd. He even had fans fighting over an empty box. He started out his set with his version of the Ghostbuster’s Theme. He then played OMC, Robotussin, Robot Dog, White Kids Love Hip-Hop, Wiid, Fett’s Vette and My Name Is. For his last song, he played Pw/Om with Piebald, which was off the hook. Piebald finished off the night. Good sound but they never pulled me in. MC Chris’ set is up on dimeadozen.org.
